#1: Letters to Livi
02 March, 2021. Luang Prabang, Laos.
Dear Livi,
I was in Luang Prabang, Laos, when I got a call to telling me that I had just become an uncle. A few hours later, and after many shots of cheap Laotian spirits, I sat on the balcony of our hostel and penned a letter to you - a remarkable little person that had just entered the world. Helpless, defenceless and utterly mind-blowing, I had no idea how much you had to teach me.
Over the past year I've watched you grow into a person and a personality. I've been surprised, impressed and awestruck by your creativity and learning capacity. Watching you has helped me watch the world through new eyes.
I’m sure my views will be wildly different by the time we get around to discussing these letters, but certain parts will hold true. Besides, it's only when you see how wrong you were that you realise how far you've come. I hope you get as much out of reading these letters as I get out of writing them.
